Imbitaryo is a service for making digital invitations and collecting RSVPs. A host creates an invitation and a guest list, shares one link, and guests reply by typing their name.
This page explains what information Imbitaryo (“we”) handles when you use it as a host or as a guest, why, and what you can do about it.
Information we collect
What we hold depends on how you use Imbitaryo.
If you are a host (you create invitations):
- Your account. Your email address. If you sign up with a password, the password is handled by our sign-in provider and Imbitaryo itself never stores it. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your email address and basic profile details (such as your name and profile picture) with our sign-in provider.
- Your events. What you type into an invitation: who or what is being celebrated, the occasion, date, time and venue, a map link, the programme and the names in it, event sections, announcements, the colours you suggest guests wear, any contact numbers or links you choose to show, and the questions you ask on the RSVP.
- Your guest list. Each guest’s name, a family or group name if you give one, how many seats you set aside for them, which parts of the event they are invited to, and any private notes you write about them.
- Photos you upload for the invitation’s cover and gallery.
If you are a guest (you open an invitation):
- Your reply. Whether you accept or decline, the names of the people coming with you, your answers to the host’s questions, and when you replied.
- Event Camera photos. If the host has turned the Event Camera on and you choose to use it, the photos you take, the invitation they were taken under and the time.
If you sent us a Custom inquiry through the form that used to be on the home page: your name, email address, contact number and what you told us about your event. Requests for a custom-made invitation now come by email, like any other message to support.
Technical information. Like any website, the companies that host Imbitaryo receive your device’s internet address, browser type and the pages requested, so that pages can be delivered and misuse can be stopped. Your browser also keeps a small amount of information on your own device: a signed-in host’s session, and for a guest, the name they entered for an event, so they aren’t asked again.
Imbitaryo does not use advertising or outside analytics trackers, and does not ask for your location. To see how the site is used, we count visits to the home page, taps on its buttons and openings of invitation links ourselves: only the time, which button, and the kind of site a visit came from (for example Facebook or Google). This uses no cookies, and stores no internet address and nothing else that could identify you; browsers set to “Do Not Track” are not counted. Paid plans are not active during the Beta, so we do not collect payment details.
How we use information
We use the information above to run the service:
- to show an invitation to the people it is shared with;
- to find a guest’s invitation when they type their name, and to count the seats they reserve;
- to show a host who has replied, who is coming and what guests answered;
- to deliver Event Camera photos to the host;
- to sign hosts in, send account emails (such as confirming an email address or resetting a password) and keep accounts secure;
- to answer support requests and Custom inquiries;
- to keep the service working, fix problems and prevent abuse.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Event hosts’ responsibilities
A host decides what goes into their event: the details, the guests’ names and notes, the questions asked and the photos shown. If you are a host, please:
- only add people you are genuinely inviting, and only what the event needs;
- avoid putting sensitive details about a guest (health, finances, identification numbers and the like) into names, notes or questions;
- only upload photos you have the right to share, and consider the people in them;
- share your invitation link, and especially the private editing link, only with people who should have it.
If a guest asks you to correct or remove their information, you can do that from your event’s guest list.
Guest information
Guests never need an account. A guest opens the invitation link, types the name their invitation is under, and replies. That means anyone who has the link and knows a guest’s name can open that guest’s invitation and reply for them, so hosts should share links thoughtfully.
Your reply goes to the event’s host. Other guests cannot see the guest list or your answers. An invitation may show how many seats are still available.
If you want your information in an event changed or removed, the quickest way is to ask the host. You can also write to us at support@imbitaryo.com.
Event Camera and uploaded photos
Invitation photos. The cover and gallery photos a host uploads are shown on the invitation. They can be seen by anyone who has the invitation link, and each photo has a web address of its own that works without signing in.
Event Camera photos. The Event Camera uses your phone’s camera only after you open it and give your browser permission, and only takes a photo when you press the shutter. It does not record video or sound. Each photo is given its film look on your own device and then sent to the host.
- Event Camera photos are private. They are never shown on the invitation, and can be seen only by the event’s host and anyone the host has given the private editing link to.
- They are kept for a limited time. At present they stop being available 7 days after the event’s camera closes and are then cleared from our storage. The host’s screen shows the date.
- The host may download them before that date. Once downloaded, a photo is in the host’s hands and outside our control.
What a photo carries. Photos are re-made in your browser before they are uploaded, which leaves out details a camera file can carry, such as the place it was taken. Event Camera photos have the date printed in the corner.
If you are in a photo and want it removed, ask the host, or write to us at support@imbitaryo.com.
Data storage
Accounts, events, guest lists, replies and photos are stored with our database and file-storage provider, Supabase. The website itself is served by Vercel. Both are named under Service providers below.
Data retention and deletion
- Events. An event, with its guest list and replies, is kept until the host deletes it. Deleting an event removes its guest list and replies permanently.
- Invitation photos. Removing a photo from an invitation takes it off the invitation straight away. The stored file is not always cleared at the same moment; write to us if you need a file removed completely.
- Event Camera photos. Kept for the limited time described above.
- Accounts. A host account is kept until you ask us to close it. There is no button for this yet: write to us at support@imbitaryo.com from the account’s email address.
- Custom inquiries. Kept while we are helping you and for our own records afterwards. Ask us if you would like yours removed.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of other companies to run Imbitaryo:
- Supabase: the database, host sign-in, account emails and photo storage.
- Vercel: hosting and delivering the website.
- Google: sign-in, if you choose “Continue with Google”; the fonts the pages are set in; and the map on invitations that show one. When a page loads a font or a map, your browser contacts Google directly.
They handle information on our behalf to provide these services. We do not share personal information with anyone for their own marketing.
Security
Pages are served over a secure (HTTPS) connection. Guest lists, replies and Event Camera photos are protected by access rules, so that only an event’s host, or someone holding its private editing link, can open them, and Event Camera photos are kept in private storage and shown through links that expire.
The people who run Imbitaryo can see account details (your email address, when you joined and last signed in) and summary facts about your events (their plan, and how many guests, replies and Event Camera photos they have) in an internal dashboard, in order to run and support the service. That dashboard does not show your guest list, your guests’ answers or your photos. Changes those people make to an event’s plan are recorded.
No online service can promise perfect security. Please use a password you don’t use elsewhere, and treat a private editing link like a key: anyone who has it can edit that event.
Your choices and rights
- Hosts can edit or delete their events, guests and invitation photos at any time from their dashboard.
- Guests can change a reply from the invitation while the host still allows changes, or ask the host to change it.
- Camera access can be withdrawn at any time in your browser’s settings for this site.
- Anyone can ask us what information we hold about them, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to support@imbitaryo.com. We may need to confirm who you are, and for information inside an event we may involve that event’s host.
You may also have rights under the data protection law of the place you live.
Children’s privacy
Imbitaryo is meant for adults who are organising an event, and we do not knowingly ask children for information. Many events are about children, though: a christening, a first birthday. In those cases a parent, guardian or host decides what to share about the child, including their name and photos, and is responsible for that choice.
If you believe a child has given us information without a parent or guardian’s agreement, write to us at support@imbitaryo.com and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
Imbitaryo is in Beta and is still changing. When what we collect or how we use it changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also say so on the site or by email to hosts.
